Technical Support

Material selection for fire-resistant insulation involves trade-offs: fire resistance class against flexibility, temperature against cost, insulation performance against processability. Our technical team supports customers through those decisions.

How we can help

  • Recommending a mica grade for a given fire resistance class and temperature
  • Advising on tape construction for your taping equipment
  • Material behaviour in VPI and resin-rich insulation systems
  • Supporting trial production and first-article evaluation
  • Interpreting test requirements and standard references
  • Failure analysis on insulation that has not performed as expected

Frequently asked questions

Which mica should I choose for a Class A fire-resistant cable?
Synthetic mica tape offers the highest temperature class (950–1000 °C). Phlogopite is usually specified for Class B, as it releases crystal water at around 800 °C.

Can mica tape replace ceramic silicone rubber?
In many fire-resistant cable designs, yes. Mica tape retains dielectric strength under flame, whereas ceramic silicone rubber depends on shell formation and is more environment-sensitive.

Do you provide test reports?
We can support testing through our in-house laboratory and coordinate third-party certification where required.
