A fire-resistant cable is more than its mica tape. The filler, binder and auxiliary materials around it determine how the finished cable performs in a fire, how easily it can be manufactured and how it behaves in service. YT MICA supplies the accessory materials that cable makers need alongside mica tape.
Cable accessory materials
Halogen-Free Glass-Fibre Filler Rope
Used to fill the interstices between cores in a cable, maintaining a round cross-section and limiting air voids. Halogen-free construction reduces smoke and corrosive gas emission in a fire.
Binder & Mica Retaining Tapes
Adhesive tapes used to hold mica tape in place during taping and cable assembly, with good adhesion and electrical insulation properties.
Glass-Fibre Reinforcing Tape
Woven glass tape that adds mechanical reinforcement to cable insulation layers and improves resistance to handling and bending.
Auxiliary Insulation Materials
Additional mica and composite materials used where the cable design calls for extra insulation or separation layers.
One supplier for the cable insulation stack
Sourcing mica tape and accessory materials from a single supplier simplifies qualification and keeps batch-to-batch behaviour consistent. Because we produce mica paper ourselves, we can also align accessory specifications with the mica tape you are already running.
- Halogen-free materials for low-smoke, low-toxicity cable designs
- Consistent supply in the volumes a cable line requires
- Technical support on material combinations for a given fire-resistance class
